Root Chakra- Muladhara

 

The root chakra is located at the base of your spine and the color associated with this chakra is red (black, charcoal grey and deep brown are also colors assoicated with the chakra particularly when using gemstones/crystals). 

 

The sanskirt word for the root chakra is muladara and the sound vibration is LAM. 

 

A simple quick meditation is to close your eyes, imagine the color red and breathe in and out slowly three times and then say the word LAM and push out the letters and combination as long as possible.  LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. 

 

Foods that feed and support this chakra are things like cherries, strawberries, watermelon, beets, pomegranate, red apples and if you are a red meat eater then red meat.

 

Affirmation:

“I am a divine being of light, and I am peaceful, protected and secure”.

 

Balanced Root Chakra:

Feeling grounded, feeling safe and secure

 

Unbalanced Root Chakra:

Feeling ungrounded, feeling overwhlemed about financial concerns, not feeling safe and protected.

hematite, red jasper, carnelian, poppy jasper, garnet, ruby, bloodstone, tiger eye, obsidian, onyx

Color meditation:  Choose one of the images below.  Focus your attention on the image for a minute then close your eyes and take three deep breaths.  Inhale the red energy and feel it fill your body.  Say the following affirmation:  "I am grounded, protected and safe".
